PGA Professional Ryan Benzel of Pro Golf- Lynwood (Lynnwood, WA) won a sudden-death playoff over Jason Pitt of Chewelah G&CC (Chewelah, WA) and Corey Prugh of Manito G&CC (Spokane, WA) to claim the Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship. Benzel lead after round two and opened the final round with three straight birdies, birdied 10 to go five under for the day and then parred the final 8 holes and held on for the victory. Pitt fired the day’s low round of 64 to get into the playoff including a 31 on the back nine.

The PGA Professional Championship is a 54 hole individual competition. The top eight qualifiers from the PNW PGA Professional Championship earned spots to the 46th National Championship at Sunriver Resort on June 23-26, 2013. Joining Benzel, Prugh and Pitt will be Brady Sharp of Walla Walla CC (Walla Walla, WA), Tim Feenstra of Broadmoor GC (Seattle, WA), Scott Erdmann of Oswego Lake CC (Lake Oswego, OR), Chris Lisk of Glendale CC (Bellevue, WA), Casey McCoy of The Dalles CC (Dalles, OR), and Jerrel Grow of Pronghorn (Bend, OR).

Round Two Results

PGA Professional Ryan Benzel of Pro Golf-Lynnwood has a two shot lead after the second round of the PGA Professional Championship after posting rounds of 67-68-135 at Circling Raven GC. Tied for second is PGA Professional Corey Prugh of Manito G&CC and PGA Professional Brady Sharp of Walla Walla CC.

There currently are 33 players at 144 (par) or less after two rounds.

PGA Professional Jason Pitt of Chewelah G&CC got on a hot streak making eight 3’s during his round of 68. PGA Professional Scott Erdmann of Oswego Lake CC also was hot along the way to his 69 he made two back-to-back eagles.

Round One Results

PGA Professional Todd O’Neal of Emerald Valley GC leads the PNW PGA Professional Championship after posting a first round score of 65, 7-under par at Circling Raven GC. O’Neal made eight birdies in route to his low round and leads by one stroke over PGA Professional Corey Prugh of Manito G&CC. Prugh was the 2011 Pacific Northwest PGA Player of the Year. PGA Professional Ryan Benzel of Pro Golf-Lynnwood is in the clubhouse with a 67 with 33 PGA Professionals currently are at par or less after the first round.

Congratulations to PGA Professional David Kass of Salish Cliffs for his hole-in-one on Hole #16! He aced the 176 yard hole with a 7 iron.


The Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship is under way at Circling Raven GC in Worley, ID.  We have our top PNW PGA Members all vying for the title of PGA Professional Champion and not only the opportunity to add their name to the list of champions but to also advance directly to the 46th National Championship at Sunriver Resort on June 23-26, 2013.  The 104 PGA Professionals are playing for a $75,000 Purse and a first place check of $8,650!

In 2000, the Pacific Northwest PGA Championship and the Section CPC merged to create one great tournament experience, with the top finishers going on to compete at the National PGA CPC Championship.  With a name change in 2006, the Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship now draws the strongest field of PGA members in the Northwest.

The PGA Professional Championship is a 54 hole individual competition.  The top 8 finishers in our Section PGA Professional Championship will advance directly to the 46th National Championship at Sunriver Resort on June 23-26, 2013.  Corey Prugh and Jeff Coston already are exempt for the Professional National Championship next June after strong finishes at this year’s championship.  Coston finished 6th while Prugh finished in a T-7th.  Both professionals earned spots at the PGA Championship where they represented us this past August.
