Be a Leader
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams
As PGA Professionals we are recognized as the leaders in the business and game of golf. How will you lead this season?
Most of us have employees that we manage but even if we have no employees to manage how do we lead? As an expert in the business and the game, it’s natural for us to lead from knowledge and experience. You can also lead by desire, passion and drive. Next time you are away from your club take the time to reflect on the operation. How can you inspire, encourage and support your employees or fellow professionals? I find that time away with reflection recharges my brain and I come back ready to lead, inspire, encourage and support.
You can start with small changes in your own behavior, the details are what matter. Look to make an impact every day in support or your co-workers. Show them you care and let them be a part of something you do really well. Our body language impacts others, our words impact others and our actions impact others.
Take some time to reflect before the season starts. We don’t have much time to reflect once it does. Look to make a positive, example setting experience at your place of work. You and your operation will be better for it. Stand behind the PGA badge and show everyone that you are truly the leader in the business and game of golf.
Finally, our leader, The President of the PGA of America will join us at our spring meeting at Glendale CC in Bellevue, WA March 19-21. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear Mr. Levy discuss the current issues with the PGA and with the game. More information can be found on the Section’s website.
If I can ever be of assistance to you please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your support of your Section!
Sincerely,
Greg Manley, PGA
President, PNWPGA
