Doug Doxsie of Seattle Golf Club (Shoreline, WA – Western Washington Chapter) has been elected as the 59th member of the Pacific Northwest Section PGA Hall of Fame.
Doug Doxsie has spent the past 28 years as the Head Professional of Seattle Golf Club and is one of only four head pros in the club’s illustrious 122-year history. Doug has a long history of service to the PGA as well, serving through the chairs of the Western Washington Chapter, on the Pacific Northwest Section PGA Board of Directors and culminating as Section President from 2003–2004. He recently concluded a three-year term as District 14 Director of the PGA and still serves as co-chair of the National Membership Committee. His many accolades include being honored as the PNW PGA Golf Professional of the Year three times, winning the PNW PGA Bill Strausbaugh Award twice, and receiving eight WWC PGA awards. Doug received awards in mentoring, teaching, merchandising and other aspects of the industry, and he was a top player as well. He was the 1991 Oregon Open champion. He made the Professional Hudson Cup team six times, winning the Larry Lamberger Award in 1999, and captained the team twice. Doug credits Bill Tindall as his mentor, and in turn has mentored over 16 assistants who have gone on to become head professionals or attain other high-ranking jobs in the golf industry.
“I am deeply honored to be included in the PNWPGA Hall of Fame. To be included with all the legendary names in our Hall of Fame, like my mentor Bill Tindall, section leaders over the decades, and many close friends of my era is truly humbling,” Doug stated.
The Pacific Northwest Section PGA established a Hall of Fame in 1981, and it currently has 58 members. Doxsie will be inducted in a joint ceremony with the Pacific Northwest Golf Association.
