FREDDY Initiative Applications Open

Be a Part of the FREDDY as a Participating Club

OUR GOAL: To provide opportunities to underprivileged youth and young adults, offering them a chance to gain experience in the golf industry at green grass facilities.

Here’s where you come in! We are looking for clubs to mentor FREDDY interns in 2024.  Individuals in the FREDDY Initiative will be mentored by PGA Professionals and their staffs, gaining firsthand working knowledge of the golf industry while networking with various departments in the overall facility.

The FREDDY internships are paid, full time, seasonal internships in the Northwest. Generally speaking, internships will last from June to September, depending upon the school year of the intern and the golf season and needs of the facility.

The FREDDY (Forming Relationships to Expand Diversity and Develop Youth) Initiative is a program designed to give special internship opportunities in the golf industry to individuals that show an interest in golf and would strongly benefit from a mentoring relationship.

It’s Easy to Get Involved

Once your club has committed to participate in the FREDDY Initiative, our task force will help each club find a suitable intern if necessary, or you may find your own. Although no two golf facilities are the same, the FREDDY Initiative provides a structure that allows each participating club to provide a similar experience.

“Being involved in the FREDDY gave me the opportunity to structure the mentoring and education I already do at the facility. I was very appreciative of how relatively simple it was to be involved.  The staff member was already on our team  and was able to follow the guidelines and see tangible benefits.”
