Gary Dowen, a beloved PGA Professional in the Pacific Northwest Section, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, at the age of 74. Gary’s life was marked by a deep passion for golf.
Gary was born 1/4/1950 and died 6/17/2024. He received his PGA certification in 1975. He was a member of the PGA Tour from 1976 through 1977. His first Head Professional job was at Danville Country Club in Danville, Illinois in 1978. From 1984 to 1995, he served as Head Professional at Illahe Hills Country Club. His journey continued at The Oregon Golf Club from 1997 to 2001. His last professional position was at Tri-Mountain Golf Course, where he served as Director of Golf from 2002 to 2006.
Gary will be remembered not only for his professional achievements in golf but also for his gentle personality. Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Dowen. Children, Julie Dowen (Andres) and Jeff Dowen (Jackie) and granddaughters Victoria and Colette.
