We are nearing the pinnacle of the season in the Pacific Northwest. I am sure you have all been extremely busy. Hopefully, you are balancing your professional and personal time and stress. This is a fun and taxing time of year for sure!
This week, Missoula CC will host the annual Member Guest. After much preparation, it is the top of the season, and then we will start the descent gradually into fall. So many of us in the PNW have major events we host during the year. I know how hard you all work to execute these events, and like me, you are showcasing your facilities and creating lasting memories for the participants. It is a rewarding time of year with amazing weather, course conditions, and the spirit of competition.
The success of our events really depends on our organization, and like my high school football coach taught me years ago, preparation is 9/10th of the rule. I love it when the event starts, and my team gets to watch the participants have a great time, and really, we experience the event right alongside our patrons. I also had a third-grade teacher that taught me a short pencil is better than a long memory. I am a checklist guy. I need to have a thorough list for my own peace of mind.
Our section staff has done a great job with our events this season as well. At the halfway mark of the season, I love seeing the posts for Drive, Chip & Putt, PGA Junior League, PGA Hope, and Folds of Honor. Congrats to our section, staff, and Alaska members on raising nearly $19,000 for Folds of Honor. Congratulations to the junior golfers that are realizing their successes with this great game. There isn’t a much better feeling than a youth golfer with a trophy and a big smile! The cool thing is that our professionals are making it happen. Without you and your love of the game, these successes would not be possible. Thanks for all you do!
Nominations for special awards are open. Please recognize and recommend your fellow professionals that are deserving for what they do.
Entries are still open for the Pelzer Golf Northwest Open and the PNW PGA Senior Professional Championship. Enter today!
Best wishes for the second half of your season. Play some golf, teach with passion, and run your special events. Enjoy some sun with your people!
Cheers,
Chris Nowlen, PGA
