PROfile: Steve Stull

This month we interview Steve Stull, PGA Life Member and Senior Hudson Cup team captain. He won the 1982 Washington Open and has a very strong playing record as a senior PGA Professional.

Hometown:  Richland, WA

PGA Member Since: 1979

How did you get started in golf and who are your mentors?

I think I was always going to be a golf professional. I received my B.S. in Education knowing I would teach. Jerry Asher was my first mentor, then Les Moe, Bill Reid, Mark Rhoads, Rick Renick and Jim Russell and many others, by their examples, over 45 years as a PGA Member.

You played in the Hudson Cup Matches across three decades, in 1981, ’82, ’83, 1990 and 2000. You also played in the Senior Hudson Cup Matches in 2014, ’15 (where you won the Bob McKendrick award), ’16, ’17 and 2021. What are some of your favorite Hudson Cup memories?

The opportunity to be a part of the Hudson Cup has been one of my greatest honors. So many amazing people, both ams and pros. I wouldn’t trade that for anything. Being voted for the Bob McKendrick award was very emotional for me.
