April 2025 President’s Report

It’s refreshing to see the sun, feel the warmer temperatures, and welcome the start of the 2025 golf season! I hope you had a chance to rest during the off-season and are recharged for a fantastic year ahead.

This week, I had the privilege of hosting the first mentoring conference for the Western Montana Chapter. The weather was perfect, the golf was a lot of fun—but the real highlight was the incredible networking that took place. Most of the associates in the room were Level 1, and the PGA Members in attendance embraced the opportunity to share their experiences and journeys as golf professionals.

What impressed me most was the passion in the room. Each PGA Pro spoke about how they got started in the game, the choices they made along the way, and the challenges they faced—often having to make difficult decisions to support their families while chasing their dreams. It was inspiring to see the presenters and seasoned professionals take pride in their careers and openly share their stories with the next generation.

As the event continued, I found myself reflecting on the many PGA meetings and conferences I’ve attended throughout my own career—the mentors who guided me, the decisions I made, and where those choices have led me. I’m truly grateful to have a career in golf. It’s remarkable to be part of a game that impacts so many lives. I believe everyone in that room, like me, values the path they’ve taken as ambassadors of the game.

I know each chapter is developing a mentoring program for 2025, and I couldn’t be more proud. Our section’s mentoring conference is one of the best in the country, and it’s exciting to see each chapter building on that momentum. The camaraderie, support, and relationships formed at these events will help guide our associates toward PGA Membership. I encourage each of you to take the time to mentor, share your knowledge, and support your associates on their journey.

And remember: you’re not alone. If you need help along the way, our talented Section staff is always here to support you. They have the resources to assist with questions you may not be able to answer on your own.

Finally, I want to acknowledge the amazing work being done across our Section. Thank you to the professionals participating in the 100-Hole Marathon for charity. Many are raising critical funds for PGA HOPE Pacific Northwest. I invite you to join us at the “We Got Your 6 Scramble” fundraiser on May 2 at Meadow Park GC, benefiting PGA HOPE.

Hopefully, you’re also hosting a PGA Junior League team this year and that signups are going well. There are many great programs available through the Pacific Northwest PGA Section—let’s make the most of them.

Wishing you all a great month ahead!

Warm regards,
Chris M. Nowlen, PGA
