Seattle Golf Club hosted the 2025 Senior PGA Professional Championship on September 4-5, where PGA Professional Jeff Gove of The Idaho Club claimed victory by a single stroke over Ryan Malby of Kalispel, MT. This marks Gove’s third title in the event, having also won in 2022 and 2023.
Although Gove’s win would normally earn him a berth in the 37th Senior PGA Professional Championship, to be held October 23–26 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, he was already exempt based on past performance.
Joining the national championship field are Ryan Malby, Joey Carranza (Overlake G&CC), Mitch Lowe (Glendoveer GC), Brian Thornton (Meridian Valley CC), Bob Rannow (Ocean Dunes GC), and Billy Bomar (Bomar Putting Company), who all secured berths.
Birk Nelson (Orange Whip Trainer), and Jeff Coston (Semiahmoo G&CC) are also exempt into the event based on past performances.
Top finishers at the national championship will earn coveted spots in the 2026 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.
Joey Carranza (Overlake G&CC) earned the Hugh Starkweather Award, presented to the low scorer across both rounds among players aged 60 and older.
Bruce Stewart (Stone Creek GC) captured the Senior Division title.

History of the Championship
The Senior PGA Professional Championship was established in 1952 and has long served as a marquee event for PGA Professionals aged 50 and older. What began as a modest competition has grown into a celebrated tradition in the Pacific Northwest Section. In 1965, Harry Umbinetti claimed the title and a top prize of $250, with just 21 competitors vying for a total purse of $920 at Yakima Elks’ Golf and Country Club.
Over the decades, the championship has graced many of the region’s most respected venues, including Royal Oaks Country Club, Eugene Country Club, Manito Golf and Country Club, and Fircrest Golf Club. Among the event’s legends is Bob Duden, who dominated the championship in the 1970s with six victories in that decade and seven titles overall. Jeff Coston holds the record for most wins (nine).

Seattle Golf Club
Seattle Golf Club was founded in 1900 as a 6-hole course on the north shore of Lake Union. The club moved to a 9-hole location in Laurelhurst until 1906. In 1907, a new 18-hole course was designed and built in the location it still is today. Over the years, this challenging and beautiful course has been kept updated while maintaining the classic design of its founders. Originally designed by the club’s first pro, Robert Johnstone from Scotland, it was updated in 1968 by course architect Ted Robinson and remodeled again in 1996 under the direction of Arnold Palmer. Seattle GC is truly one of the most outstanding golf courses in the Northwest.
