Jessica McClellan, PGA is the 2024 Merchandiser of the Year in the Resort category. Under her guidance, gross merchandise sales at Old Macdonald have seen significant growth. Jessica’s innovative stocking strategies and expert product knowledge have been instrumental in managing limited storage space while driving growth. A passionate professional with a keen eye for detail and innovation, McClellan has helped shape a premier shopping experience for golfers visiting one of the country’s most iconic golf destinations.
Originally from Freeland, Pennsylvania, McClellan was introduced to golf by her PGA Professional uncle and quickly found her passion for the game. She gained hands-on experience working in his shop, coaching junior golf, and competing in high school tournaments. When she discovered Penn State’s PGM program, she knew it was the perfect path to blend her love of golf with a professional career. Serving as the Merchandise Chair at Penn State and attending the PGA Merchandise Show solidified her interest in merchandising, a field where she could be both strategic and creative.
Since arriving at Bandon Dunes nearly five years ago, McClellan has risen from intern to Head Golf Professional at Bandon Dunes – Old Macdonald, embracing merchandising as a way to connect golfers to unforgettable experiences. She ensures that the shop reflects the magic of Bandon Dunes, offering high-quality, memorable merchandise that serves as a keepsake for players’ bucket-list rounds. Her visual merchandising strategy, which includes frequent layout changes and display updates, encourages engagement and enhances the shopping experience.
Looking ahead, she sees a shift toward alternative, story-driven logos and limited-edition merchandise drops, trends that continue to elevate resort retail.
