Tumwater, Wash. – The Pacific Northwest Section PGA is proud to announce that Sunriver Resort – Woodlands Course in Sunriver, Oregon has been selected to host the Pelzer Golf Northwest Open Invitational, to be held August 17-19, 2026.
The oldest professional golf tournament in the region, the Northwest Open began as the Pacific Coast Championship. From 1901-1904 the championship was held at Pebble Beach – Del Monte Golf Course. In 1905, the event moved to Waverley Country Club and was named the Pacific Northwest Open Championship.
“We are thrilled to be bringing our oldest section major to Sunriver. We are confident in their ability to deliver a quality competition in a beautiful setting consistent with the deep tradition of the Northwest Open,” said Frank Talarico, CEO of the Pacific Northwest Section PGA.
“We are excited to welcome back the Pacific Northwest PGA by hosting the 2026 Northwest Open Invitational,” said PGA Professional Josh Willis, Sunriver Resort Vice President of Operations. “The Northwest Open continues to be a significant part of the northwest golf history dating back to the early 1901, and we’re confident the Woodlands will provide a championship test for both the PGA Professionals and amateurs.”
Noted by golfers for superb conditioning and its world-renowned setting, the Woodlands at Sunriver Resort is one of the Northwest’s finest championship courses. Designed by internationally celebrated golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., Woodlands is lined by ponderosa and lodgepole pines, and features outcroppings of lava rock and an abundance of water.
