Nineteen teams lead by Pacific Northwest Section PGA professionals escaped the January cold and headed to Hawai’i for the 43rd PNW Hawai’i Pro-Am. The beautiful Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and its two golf course were our base for eight days of 80+ degrees and light island breezes. The team championship went to PGA Professional Maggie Simons and her team from The Oregon Golf Club consisting of Cam and Ellen Worsham, Teresa and Nick Caba. They scored a best two-of-three total of 270 points – one better than Maggie’s boss, Bob Turnquist!
Low professional honors went to Greg Manley of Meridian Valley at 81 points. We had a tie for Amateur Low Gross between Sota Nozaka of Meadow Springs and Jeff Widdows of Yakima CC at 73 points. Greg Zevely of Maplewood and Mike Murray of The Golf Club at Newcastle shared Amateur Low Net honors at 82 points. Jennifer Durkin of Meridian Valley was the Ladies Champion at 39 points.

Mauna Lani Resort
Mauna Lani Resort’s two championship golf courses, Mauna Lani North and South, offer a challenging experience to novice and professional golf enthusiasts alike. Mauna Lani has received Golf Magazine’s Gold Medal Award every year since 1988 and was host to the Senior Skins Golf Game for 11 years. The courses are masterpieces of design, each strikingly different, yet equally challenging. Each course is a world apart geographically, and in playing experience.
