Fame, Fortune & Friendship
“As our only member-only Championship, this is a great event to see fellow professionals, connect with friends on and off the course, and play some great golf courses as well. I get most excited about the opportunity to qualify for our National Championship. It’s a great final major of our season. Meadow Springs will be another fantastic host as they have previously hosted the Web.com Tour for many years. I encourage everyone to come compete on this Championship course!” – Ryan Benzel, PGA
This championship confers the title of “The Pacific Northwest Section Champion”. It is the most important and elite PNW PGA tournament of the season. In addition to the winner, 6 players will advance to the PGA Professional Championship.
We are also playing for a large purse. We’ve averaged well over $70,000 the last five years and with your participation we expect this year to easily top that mark.
This is a fun event for all, with fantastic competition and comradery with your fellow Section members.

The Return to Meadow Springs
The PNW PGA Professional Championship will be held at wonderful Meadow Springs CC, which previously hosted this event in 2013. Meadow Springs CC was designed by Robert Muir Graves and is one of Washington’s top-rated courses. The club was founded in 1973 and over the past 45 years has hosted numerous PGA, PNGA, a PAC10 Championship and was host of the Tri-Cities Open Nationwide Tour event for many years. Over the past winter Meadow Springs CC underwent a complete bunker renovation designed by David Druzisky that was completed in April. We look forward to experiencing the new improvements and Chris Peterson, PGA is excited to host.
A Tradition of Competition
The Section Championship dates back to 1934, with Verne Torfin winning the title at Fircrest GC. In 2000, the Pacific Northwest PGA Championship merged with the Section CPC to create one great tournament experience, with the top finishers going on to compete at the National PGA Championship.
Only open to Section Professionals, this event draws the strongest field of PGA members in the Northwest. Last year, PGA Professional Russell Grove of North Idaho College won by five strokes over 2007 Champion Brian Thornton of Meridian Valley CC.
Last year, seven professionals advanced to the 51st PGA Professional Championship this June 17-20 at Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside, Ca: Russell Grove, Brian Thornton, Jerrell Grow, Trevor Fox, Bob Rannow, John Cassidy and Tim Feenstra.
