We’re thrilled to introduce Jeanie Butler, the newest PGA HOPE Ambassador for the Pacific Northwest. Jeanie’s journey from her hometown roots to her role as a passionate advocate for veterans is inspiring, and she brings a unique perspective and commitment to her new role.
Jeanie’s story begins in Detroit, Michigan, where she was born, but she was raised in the coastal town of North Bend/Coos Bay, Oregon. Her upbringing in this small town shaped her values and gave her a strong sense of community—qualities that continue to influence her dedication to helping others.
With a deep family history in the Navy, Jeanie was inspired to follow in her father, stepfather, and brother’s footsteps. She joined the U.S. Navy at 17, soon after high school graduation, looking for adventure beyond her small-town life. During her service, Jeanie worked as an Aviation Hydraulic Mechanic, where she specialized in servicing S-3 in-flight refuelers, spending most of her enlistment stationed at NAS North Island in Coronado, California.
Jeanie first learned about PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) while taking golf lessons, where her instructor encouraged her to connect with the program. Through PGA HOPE, Jeanie has discovered the powerful therapeutic benefits that golf offers, especially for veterans facing PTSD and anxiety.
Now, as an ambassador, Jeanie is passionate about using golf to reach other veterans, particularly women. She recognizes the unique challenges many women face during and after military service and sees this program as a pathway to healing and connection. “PGA HOPE gave me hope,” she says, “and I want to share that with other veterans.”
With Jeanie Butler joining the team, PGA HOPE in the Pacific Northwest is sure to continue making an impactful difference in the lives of those who have served. Jeanie’s story is a reminder of the power of community, resilience, and the unique support that programs like PGA HOPE offer to veterans. We’re proud to welcome her as our newest ambassador.
