Tournament Format

  • 54 hole stroke play (cut after 36 holes – to the low 45% of professionals and ties, plus all amateurs within that range)

Eligibility

The term “eligible player” is defined, for this Championship, as: (1) all Pacific Northwest Section, PGA of America members (except those classified as “F” or “Reserve”); (2) all PNW Section, PGA of America Associates with full Section Playing Privileges; (3)all Amateurs (as defined by the USGA) with current USGA handicap indexes of 8.0 or less.

History

The Washington Open Invitational dates back to 1922. In that year, young Al Espinosa captured the crown at Yakima CC. Some big names have won this event over the years – including brothers Al and Emery Zimmerman, Chuck Congdon, Al Mengert, Senior Tour Player Rick Acton and PGA Tour Player Fred Couples. Read more…
